In a blog post, Western Union stated its intentions to ready its systems for the evitability of cryptocurrency as a “way for assets to be exchanged between people and countries” on a large-scale.
Western Union says the addition of cryptocurrency would not be a “big reach” for the company since it has transferred digital funds for two decades.
It has begun working with Ripple Labs on possibilities for settlement processing, regulation and working capital optimization. It is not yet ready to integrate or replace its current system with a Ripple one. Western Union has said it will continue research into blockchain technology.
